Long Crendon Morris Men - Buckinghamshire

The Long Crendon Morris Men are world famous, they dance Cotswold morris and perform at many local fetes and events in and around Buckinghamshire. Every September they dance at the Thame Show this event used to be the largest one day farming Show in the Country. If you wonder around Buckinghhamshire you will discover a wealth of wonderful places.
Here are just a couple of local places of interest, that might appeal. The wonderful Waddesdon Manor, a grand Renaissance-style chateau which was built in the 1870's. Visit this famous manor and view it's fine collection of French C18 objects. Waddesdon Manors Gardens are famous for their spectacular views. Website: waddesdon.org.uk
A stones throw from there is the small village of Quainton where you can find the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre. This is a working steam museum where you can experience the golden age of steam. View it's large collection of Steam Loco's, wagons and coaches. Website: bucksrailcentre.org
From there make your way to Brill and visit the highest point in Buckinghamshire. In the Civil war it was a strong hold of the royalist's and the famous siege of Brill took place there. Visit the Brill Windmill high on the hill and enjoy a drink in one of the local inn's.
Make your way down the hill and you come to Oakley where in the 1960's the great train robbers held up for a while after their infamous crime. A very short trip from there brings you to Boarstall and Boarstall Tower this C14 gatehouse with gardens (The House being demolished in 1778) retains its medieval belfry, crossloops and crenellations.
